Official rules for the LG Mobile Worldcup South Africa Championship

The LG Mobile Worldcup South Africa Championship ("LG MWC SA") will take place from August 30th to September 25th, 2010.
The LG MWC will culminate with the LG Mobile Worldcup South Africa National Championship, which will take place on September 30th, 2010.

The LG MWC SA National Championship is comprised by 8 of the fastest finalists competing against each other to determine who can text various selected words appearing on their podium monitors, both with accuracy and speed, within a certain period of time. All stages of the LG MWC SA National Championship will allocate points to each participant based on their performance.

The 2 out of the 8 finalists who score the most points in the LG MWC SA National Championship will represent South Africa at the LG Mobile Worldcup World Championship New York in the beginning of the next year, 2011.

  1. 1. Notice to the participants of the competition
    *. Any person can take part in the LG MWC SA.
    *. This competition is not open to the LGESA staff, their direct agencies, promotional partners, suppliers, or their immediate families.
  2. 2. Procedure to take part in the competition
    *. To participate in the LG MWC SA, each participant is required to register online at http://zaw.lgmobileworldcup.com.
    *. Conditions to go through the 4 weeks participation of the competition:
    The words should be typed and submitted without mistakes as quickly as possible; taking into account the results of the 4 weeks participation of the competition, the fastest, most accurate participants will be selected to enter into the finals.
    Each qualifying finalist must be prepared to compete in the LG MWC SA National Championship on both a QWERTY and Numeric phone in order to be eligible for the ultimate prize.
    Participants who play the game agree to be audited at any time by Mindsports South Africa to verify their times before any final results are posted.
    Predictive text and other mechanical tools utilised to assist the participant to achieve unrealistic results will not be allowed in this competition.
    Participants found to be utilising such tools to reach their time will be disqualified from the competition and the next legitimate participant will be chosen to participate in the finals.
  3. 3. Conditions to participate in the LG MWC SA National Championship
    *. Contestants under the age of 18 may only take part in the LG MWC SA National Championship with the approval of their parents’, adoptive’s, guardians’, trustees’ (legal representatives’). The participant or his legal representative is responsible for the correct information regarding the participant’s age.
    *. The organizer of the competition shall bear the costs of the top 4 participants coming from outside Johannesburg who qualify to participate in the LG MWC SA National Championship:
    - The cost of the flight to the host city and back to the participant’s place of residence (only for the participant).
    - Reasonable costs of accommodation in Johannesburg, the host city, for 1 (one) night only.
    *. If the participant of the final round of the competition comes from outside Johannesburg, the host city, and is under the age of 18, the organizer of the competition shall bear the above-stated expenses in respect of one additional person who is over the age of 21 to accompany such participant to the final round of the competition.
    *. Should any additional finalists come from outside the Johannesburg area, they will have first option to participate in the competition at their own cost. Failing this, they will forfeit their place in the competition and the next qualifying finalist will be contacted accordingly.
  4. 4. Conditions to participate in the final round stages
    *. A judge shall have the right to disqualify any contestant who is not in compliance with these official rules, in the judge's sole discretion.
    *. The judge’s decisions shall be made strictly in accordance with the ‘Official Rules’ and any other rules and procedures put in place for the competition.
    *. LGESA may, in its sole discretion, modify or alter in any way the number of words or missions in the competition based on the number of contestants that participate.
    *. The winners of last year’s (2009) LG MWC SA Championship will not be able to take part in the final round.
  5. 5. Prize
    *. There will be 3 winners of LG MWC SA National Championship whose eligibility must be verified by LGESA and who must meet the conditions described in these terms and conditions and any other rules put in place.
    *. Only the top 2 winners will qualify to travel to the LG Mobile Worldcup World Championship New York to be hosted at the beginning of next year (2011). The third winner will act as a substitute in case one of the top two winners cannot participate in the LG MWC World Championship New York.
  6. 6. Participants code of conduct for the LG MWC SA National Championship
    *. Participants must adhere to the code of conduct described herein at all times while at the competition.
    *. Failure to adhere to the code of conduct may, in the sponsor's sole discretion, result in an immediate disqualification (including loss of LG MWC SA national champion status and forfeiture of prizes), and expulsion from the venue for the remainder of the competition.
  7. 7. Media interviews
    *. In order to be eligible to enter the competition and accept any prize in connection therewith, all contestants will be required to agree in writing and undertake to participate in media interviews with times, dates, and places determined by the LGESA.
  8. 8. Publicity
    *. LGESA reserves the right to photograph the winners and use such photographs of the winners for publicity purposes including but not limited to posting such photographs on the LG website. LGESA shall not be held liable for any damage of whatsoever nature arising or resulting from the use or submission or uploading of any material, photograph, picture, graphic or image during the competition.
    *. LGESA reserves the right about all contestants’ personal information for for only LGESA’s promotional purpose.
  9. 9. Release
    *. By participating in the competition and accepting any prize in connection therewith, the contestants (and the contestants' parent or legal guardian if the contestant is a minor) agree that the promotion parties as assigned by LGESA, and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, affiliates, and agents will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by the contestant (and contestants' parent or legal guardian if the contestant is a minor) against, any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any kind to persons or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the competition, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize; or from participation in any prize-related activity, including any travel related thereto and participation in the competition and for any claims based on intellectual property rights, publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.
  10. 10. Limitations of liability and conditions
    *. By entering, each contestant (and their parent or legal guardian if an eligible minor) agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the LGESA and any official judge, which shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    *. By participating, contestants agree that all decisions the LGESA makes with respect to the competition, including but not limited to the interpretation of these rules, shall be made in the LGESA’s sole discretion and that LGESA’s decisions are final and non-appealable.
